Growing up in Austin is a wonderful thing. There's always something to do, a show to see, a trail to run, barbecue to eat. But the mild winters and barely-there falls have had me feeling left out from all the cute colder weather outfits I wish I were wearing. So after a recent move north to Kansas City, I can say I am excited about one thing: Fall. Because as much as I love Austin, I can't complain that I'm not sweating it out in the usual 90 degree October heat.
From what I hear, fall and winter are quickly approaching and according to some friends, Kansas City gets cold. I cannot wait to invest in a good pair of boots and gloves, and possibly some coats, cable knit sweaters, tights…the list goes on. And while I'm excited, I am a bit nervous about making it through an entire winter (I have Texas in my blood, after all). So I have started my winter prep by stocking up on a few basics I know I'll be wearing all season long. This sweater from J.Crew is so soft, but is made of lambswool so I know it will keep me warm. I also love the zipper detail on the sides, and I can't wait to try out some layering with this piece! Then I shopped my closet for the rest of my look, picking out a tried-but-true pair of black denim ankle skinnies (I swear by J.Crew toothpick cut), sharp black heels and my good ole' Marc Jacobs purse. I added on my Kate Spade Cause a Stir Mini Pendant and a pair of classic gold wayfarers to complete the look. (And a dash of my all time favorite red-orange lipstick- YSL Rouge Pur Couture in Le Orange.)
