Black & White
When I don't know what to wear but want to look stylish, I always reach for something black and white. It's a classic color palette that always looks good, whether it's for work or weekends. These black and white boots really served as the inspiration for this outfit. I love starting with one item and building an outfit around that. I paired them back to this white tiered sleeve top (sold out but similar options below!), black feather vest and faux leather leggings.
These leggings are one of my favorite purchases of the year- I've been searching for the perfect pair for what feels like years and I cannot recommend these enough! They are available at Nordstrom (hello free shipping) and are under $100. The fit is to die for - I'm talking perfect rise, perfect stretch, perfect length. And they don't look fake- the best part of all. I wear them all the time, dressed up or down, and they are a lifesaver when jeans simply don't feel like an option. (Read: All the time.) I'm also tempted by this moto-style pair for an edgier look.
A cute fur vest goes a long way, in my opinion and is always great for completing an outfit, a la the Rule-of-3. The Rule-of-3 is something I learned about back in my retail days at Anthropologie (over 4 years, y'all) and it goes like this: an outfit doesn't always look complete without a 3rd piece to pull it all together. As demonstrated here, the poncho served as the 3rd piece. In this outfit it's the vest. Layering pieces like these are key in my wardrobe and are especially helpful in that "I don't know what to wear" situation that let's be honest, we all face at least once a day.
