Long before I started my job at Neiman's, my goal was to move to New York City and work in fashion.
In those 18-year-old dreams of mine, I always pictured myself: dressed up in the city, headed to a work meeting, and wearing something a whole lot dressier than how I dressed in Austin! At least, that was the plan! Upon graduation (I was a journalism major at The University of Texas at Austin) life took a few unexpected turns and my plans and dreams started to change. Working in online retail (freelance nonetheless) in the Kansas City suburbs was definitely not my first choice post- graduation. I was set on moving to the city and working for a big fashion house or magazine. In hindsight, I couldn't be more happy that I followed my gut on every twist and turn it's taken since.

Fast forward two years later, and (as you may have read in my last post) I got a promotion and started a new job yesterday! While I'm so excited for all the new experiences and opportunities to come, I'm of course also a little excited about buying a few new things to wear. I'm going from a fashion-casual office to business professional, so I've been on the hunt for professional clothes and I'm excited to share this outfit and lots of spring work dresses under $100!

I try my best to purchase items that will all work together color-wise and that I feel the most comfortable in - and for me that means blues and greys. So I knew when I bought this dress I already had a few things back home that would work with it. This ChicWish trench is one of the best things I've ever bought- it's unfortunately old but I've linked some very similar ones above! I paired the whole look together with a pair of v. practical shoes. 4 inch suede heels with giant pom poms - all the things shoes need right? I love a good gold-grey color combo, and this purse is the best of both worlds. I paired my earrings and necklace back to the purse to tie it all together.
What do you wear to work? How do you put work outfits together? I'd love to hear in the comments below!
