It's been an exciting, whirlwind start to the year! At the beginning of January I was waiting to hear back about a job that I had interviewed for in December. As much as I wanted the job, I was so sure that I wasn't going to get the position for another 6 months, I started reaching for a creative outlet or distraction that would serve me creatively over the next few months. I started putting some serious effort into my blog and made goals that I felt I would have time for. I was so surprised when I found out I did get the job and I start on Monday! I am so excited for this new chapter to begin, but most of my January goals are kind of a joke now. However, goals do not have to be completed by a certain date and can always be realigned. I am SO excited for the month ahead But first, a look back!
January + 2018 Goals
-Research workout options. I've been significantly lacking in exercise the last few years and I'm looking for some new options! Update: Started but still haven't decided on anything. Has anyone tried BBG or Kayla Itsines? I'm starting to think the best place to get some exercise is at home!
-Research language classes. One of my goals for a long time has been to learn another language. While it may be an ambitious year to start, I know I'll at least started researching a class - and decide on a language. I'm in between French and Italian. Update: Not happening this Spring, unfortunately this may be a goal better saved for next year!
-Find new podcasts to listen to. I recently started listening to Cherry Bombe radio- it's all about women and food and I love it. I also started listening to Super Soul by Oprah and it's become one of my favorites! (I've actually listened to the Brene Brown episodes several times over- they are that powerful) Update: Listened to nearly all of Super Soul Sunday and started listening to How I Built This - a podcast about entrepreneurs and how they built their business. I loved the Drybar and Starbucks episodes!
-Start planning our trips for the year. One thing we did over Christmas break was go through all the states we've been to and another list of the ones we haven't. On our list for this year: New York City, Utah, either Nashville or Charlotte, and Hawaii (which has been on my list for a long time and I'm determined to make it happen this year) We did start planning and I've gotten as far as requesting time off from work. We are still narrowing down where to go!
-Redesign the blog! I've got big plans for the blog in 2018, and one of them has been a redesign. I feel really strong about what I want to create and how I want to brand, so I want to make sure the blog reflects that. Update: Started reaching out to designers, haven't found anyone yet but I am doing my research.
-Plan out editorial calendar for the blog - already started but still working on it! Update: Planned out through mid-April! Very proud that I was able to get everything planned out and more equipped to execute what I want to post.
-Research photography classes - one of my goals has been to become a better photographer! Since I'm entirely self-taught and want to put more into the blog this year, I feel like it's time to invest in learning from someone else! Update: Sadly also not happening at the moment- postponed for the summertime!
-Blog twice a week, consistently Update: Check! Excited that I was able to stay on track and have even started working on posts in advance so they are not getting completed at the last minute.
1. Throw myself wholeheartedly into my new job
2. Find a workout regimen that works for me.
3. Decide where to plan trips to this year
4. Write posts 1 week in advance.
5. Set a monthly budget - does anyone have any apps that they recommend?
