As you may have read, we kicked off on the final leg of our full home renovation - our main bathroom! You can read all about the design inspiration here, but today, we’re talking about the changes we are making to the layout!

Above is our current layout. The bathroom space we have is large, but so much of it goes to waste with the current layout. There are some empty pockets of space that go unused, and we knew we could make a few arrangements and make much better use of the space. Last year, we swapped our original (large) water heater for a more compact tankless water heater and relocated it to the mudroom, allowing us to remove the closet that was housing the original one, which we knew free up even more space for the new layout!

The After! Because of the way the entry door is positioned, there is slightly more depth on the tub/shower side than the vanity side, so we felt it made more sense to flip which wall the vanity was positioned on. Now when you walk in, a freestanding tub will be on the right, and next to it the shower, and on the left, a floor to ceiling open linen shelving area will be followed by the double vanity with a bit of extra counter space in the middle. We’re lucky to have a pier and beam foundation rather than poured foundation so Then we’ll add a water closet that stretches across the back third of the bathroom that will store lots of extra items we don’t use everyday, accessed by a pocket door.

What do you think of the new layout? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
