I'm so excited to be sharing some of the things that have been inspiring me for spring on the blog this morning! I love this western-inspired top and these feather-hem jeans. I also love the idea of 90's style necklaces (looking for a butterfly one in addition to this Love one) and I love these platform sneakers as another nod to the 90s. Circle cross body bags are sure to be a big trend too. I love this straw one and this pink one, and statement sleeve tops like this gingham one and this striped one are inspiring my style this season. These gold mules will add the perfect glam touch to any look, as would these glitter sunnies. What are y'all looking to add to your closets this spring? I'd love to hear in the comments below!
You may have noticed a small change on the blog this morning- a new name!! I have been thinking long and hard about a new name for my blog, because truth be told I wasn’t in love with the old one. It was hard to remember, hard to pronounce, and I had really only picked it because I was feeling pressured to come up with something cute. This name came from one of my pinterest boards that I called "Wish I Was Wearing", where I saved outfit after outfit that I loved. (Wouldn't it be magical if we could just pin something and then automatically own it. #iwish.) After running the name by a few friends, I felt like it was the perfect name for my blog for a few reasons!
1. It's easy to pronounce! My last blog name elicited a lot of confusion. Hopefully this one will be easier to remember and say!
2. It's easy to tell what the blog is about- fashion, design and style
3. It feels original and genuine to me since it's something I find myself thinking frequently
4. It's relatable. I think we've all had that feeling of "I wish I was wearing that!" so hopefully this new name will be something to connect over
So go ahead and save my new domain for whenever you feel like isiting the blog!
One blog idea I've been thinking about for a long time has been to spotlight a new and upcoming designer each month and to talk about their clothes and why I love them! As much as I love talking about the stores I frequent at the mall on a regular basis (ahem, Anthropologie), I think it's equally important to shed light on the newer designer names in the industry and to stay informed on the goings-on in the fashion world. One of my intentions for this blog is that it becomes a place to learn about everything from high-end designers to that J.Crew top we just all had to have last month.
A note about my intentions for this blog-- The thing I've realized I miss most about blogging was the sense of community I had. I wouldn't even have my job that I have today if it weren't for that community and friendship. One reason I think blogging has lead me to my career path is because I've found people who care as much as I do about blogging, or new brands, or the latest Gucci loafer, or simply a pretty Instagram picture. That connection has served me in so many ways and this year my intention is to cultivate a community by writing and sharing and connecting here. (Sorry for the sob story, I've clearly listened to one too many Oprah podcasts today.) But truly, my hope is that this blog will become a community that cultivates a love for style and design.
So without further ado...this month I am so excited to feature one my favorite designers that I found over the last year- Nour Hammour. They make some of the coolest, most covetable leather jackets on the market. What originally started as a luxury label specializing in made-to-order leather jackets has turned into a full-blown fashion phenomenon. There's no other brand on the market that is making jackets the way designers are making handbags and shoes, Hammour has been quoted saying. Except for her. While the "it" jackets are trendy statement-makers, they're equally beloved for being livelong wardrobe staples, something I can always get behind. I had the opportunity to meet Nour earlier last year and I can genuinely say she is one of the nicest people I've ever met. Below are some of my favorite pieces from her collection (all handmade in Paris, mind you). I'll take one of each, please!
