Our Kitchen Refresh Plans

Today I am so excited to share our kitchen refresh plans! We have been in our house for some time now, and made some updates to our kitchen area along the way. We have updated the floors, backsplash and counters, as well as the sink and appliances. In a few weeks though, I am so thrilled to say we are refacing our cabinet doors, installing new drawers, and a few other new touches like a true range hood and a cabinet surrounding our fridge! We have pieced this kitchen together the best we could over the years, but I think that updating the cabinets will make the kitchen feel so much more functional and complete. There are so many details that I can’t wait to share, but for today I want to share the design inspiration!

Design Concept

Some history on our current kitchen situation: We still have the original cabinets that came with the house, which we painted white several years ago. Unfortunately there are spots where the paint is peeling now. The cabinets also have very elaborate molding and trim, making it difficult to install any kind of hardware. Ultimately we decided it was worth it to reface them and complete any incomplete areas, like the fridge.

While I have mostly been leaning toward sticking with a clean, white paint color, I have been playing around with different grey-blues as well! There are so many kitchens that I love that are not all white (I love the two pictured below) and since we already have white subway backsplash and white Carrera marble counters installed, I feel like offsetting all that white with a warm gray or blue gray would look a little more cozy. I plan to install brass hardware regardless of cabinet color, which i’m just so excited for!

In my design concept above I included some of the accessories I want to add to the space, including a new pendant light, woven glassware, and a brass cookbook stand!

Work begins in a couple weeks, and I cannot wait to see it all come together. This is the final big project to complete on our house, so it feels incredible to being so close to the finish line after years of big projects. I can’t wait to share it all here!
