Buttermilk Blueberry Muffins

There are a few recipes from my childhood that I've been revisiting lately. "Pizzabread" is an all time favorite of mine, a recipe invented by my mom that involves rolling out pizza dough, sprinkling on cheese and pepperoni, rolling it up and baking it, cutting the roll into pieces and dipping it in pizza sauce. It's amazing (but maybe not quite blog-worthy? I haven't decided yet.) However, these blueberry muffins are so life-changing I had to share them. They are rich and delicious and packed with blueberry flavor. And though they're a bit of a process to make, they are totally worth it. Rather than just adding blueberries to the mix, these muffins have a sweet blueberry sauce swirled into the middle and they're topped with lemon sugar. Read on for the recipe!
